I have been watching the debates, listening to TV programs about each candidate. I will watch the next debate for sure. Right now I am not very thrilled with the candidates. One, however, seems to be standing in front of a podium, lying through his teeth. He has been involved with criminals for years, yet he will deny it. I feel he would be a terrible president because the American people cannot believe he will tell the truth. How will we know if he is lying or not? Or will he just talk and talk, letting people hear what they want to hear, never coming right out and telling us he can’t or won’t do something? Do you really believe all the things each candidate says he will do will come true? I believe a candidate once president tries to put through policies, but the Senate and Congress can shut down any proposals that come their way if they don’t agree. That’s why we have the Senate and Congress. Enough (hopefully) intelligent men and women who can determine what is a good bill and what really is bad and vote accordingly. Listen, read, educate yourself about each candidate before November 4th. Your vote will mean more to everyone.

Political Forum #5 – religion and race

My Opinion

candidate

creationism

Forum

Governor Palin

Obama

Political

religion
<guid

Obama being half black might sway some people to not vote for him, because they don’t want to have a black president. Then there are the religious issues…is Obama Muslim? Some articles I’ve read say no, some say yes. We have heard about his previous pastors. But have we been told the real story?

Governor Palin’s religious issues have also come to light. Her beliefs about creationism have stirred many minds to wondering just what is going on. Haven’t we as a country gone beyond this? We are no longer allowed to pray in schools, at school events, and elsewhere. We cannot have the Ten Commandments hung in the courthouses. Yet, religion is going to play a part in the voting for the next President? I, for one, would welcome back prayer in schools and the Ten Commandments being back at the courthouses. However, I do not feel we need to include someone’s religious beliefs when considering that person for political office. Comments are welcome. This is my opinion.

Political Forum #3

My Opinion

campaign

economy

November

Political
<guid

I don’t believe half the things that I see, read, hear, or find on the Internet. I think some people are writing all sorts of things to make people worry about the future. Do they really want people to say they are disgusted and not bothering to vote in November? That’s what my mother told me she is going to do…not vote. She said there is no one decent to vote for. Not true. You can always do a write in vote for someone, anyone. It takes that 1 vote away from any candidate on the ballot. Ralph Nader took votes away from the candidates every time he ran and he certainly didn’t spend millions of dollars that people donated to run his campaign.

Then there are the phone calls to ask you to donate money to the candidates. A co-worker received one such call. Unfortunately for her, she has a phone number of a former person who donated previously to the Democratic party. The caller didn’t seem to want to understand that he hadn’t reached the correct person and just kept talking. When he asked her to donate $150 she got angry, shouted an obscenity into the phone and hung up. She told me they have a lot of balls to ask for that much from anyone with the economy being so bad. She’s right in a sense. I don’t think anyone would be able to suddenly dish up that much money for a donation right now…at least not anyone I know. I don’t run with the rich crowds, the celebrities, nor the millionaires. Most people I know live paycheck to paycheck. How are the candidates going to deal with the “poor” people like us who don’t have money to donate? That’s what I’d like to know.

Political Forum- My opinion

My Opinion

McCain

Obama

Political
<guid

The Republication Convention yielded some head shaking on my part. Does it really matter how many homes McCain owns? Does is matter that he can’t remember? If I do recall Cindy McCain is a millionaire on her own and she probably has the houses, not John McCain. It’s interesting that this little mention of how many houses has become a huge topic. Do I care about this? No, I don’t. I am more interested in hearing about the health issues, the economy, and the war in Iraq. How are these to be handled by the next Presidential candidate? What are they willing to do? To me, this is a whole lot more to question than the number of homes a candidate owns.

Then again, I must admit choosing Biden for the vice President on Obama’s part might become rather laughable. I can see him running to Biden for all the information needed to be President. That’s right, I don’t feel Obama is qualified enough to be President. McCain’s choice of a woman who is little known out of Alaska is also something I am not quite sure about. But I will be listening very hard in the coming weeks to determine the why and who of these vice presidential candidates. Being an Independent voter, I just learned my vote will be very important to the candidate I choose in November.

If you have any opinions about these issues, feel free to comment. I look forward to debating these issues.
