He said he was disappointed weapons of mass destruction were never found in Iraq. He acknowledged he made mistakes in claiming the U.S. and allies prevailed in Iraq just 2 months after the was started. He also said he was hugely disappointed with the few military guards who took the pictures and abused prisoners at the Abu Graib camp. He felt the response to Hurricane Katrina was fast enough even though it could have been a bit faster. He also joked with the reporters.

He felt he had taken extraordinary measures to deal with the frozen credit markets. He feels tax cuts are the “right course of action” to help the economy. He started his presidency in a recession and is leaving during another recession. However, during his 8 years as President there were 52 straight months of job growth.

He told the reporters he felt the biggest threat to Obama would be an attack on the U.S. He said “there’s still an enemy out there that would like to inflict damage on America–on Americans.”

Senate to Auto Makers- NO BAILOUT LOAN

My Opinion

auto makers

bailout loan

Bush

Senate
<guid

It’s too early this morning to tell what the U.S. Stock Markets will be like, but we can assume the Dow which is already dropping will go down further. Do the Senators know what they have done? Do they realize they are not helping the economy? President Bush was said to be disappointed and will see what he can do. He will have to dip into that $700 million already approved to help the auto makers. I am very disappointed in the Senate. They are playing with our lives, our welfare, and our future. I intend to check to see which was my Senator voted and let him know if I am happy or angry. Perhaps the rest of the nation should do the same. I wonder if the Senate really cares about the futures of the American people?

Home Foreclosure Help

My Opinion

Bush

foreclosures

Obama
<guid

The government needs to focus on finding a way to help people from losing their homes. There is a definite link between foreclosures and the economy. This is very clear to most citizens. President elect Obama has said his blueprint for recovery will include help for homeowners facing foreclosure. He will do something right away after he gets in to office if President Bush doesn’t do something sooner. He stressed a plan should be similar to the Home Owner Loan Corp. initiated in 1933 to help refinance homes during the Great Depression. Gov. Corzine of New Jersey suggested a halt for 3 to 6 months on any foreclosures to give the government time to work out a more aggressive plan. Let’s hope the government won’t drag their feet over this issue. We need action now not in 6 months.

G-20 Economic Summit

My Opinion

Bush

Economic

G-20 Economic Summit

Obama

summit
<guid

President Bush invited 18 leaders to talk about open markets for free trade. Some progress is being made, but there is more to be done since some leaders have different ideas on how to get out of the crisis the world is in. This is the first in a series of summits.

And where is president elect Obama? He is not there. He could be there, sitting in the background, listening, absorbing details and making notes for the future summits of which he will be a part. It would be educational for him. Instead he has sent two representatives to sit at the summit and report back to him. What kind of message is Obama sending to the rest of the world? Is he disinterested in helping? Doesn’t he care at all? I feel he should have been there. No one would keep him out. To me it just doesn’t seem like he cares about the economy or he would have been there. This doesn’t make it look good for our future here in the United States. I am more worried now than I was a week ago after Obama was elected.

Obama’s changes

My Opinion

Bush

deficit

Obama

President I

reform
<guid

From what I have read lately the tax reform he has proposed would not help the U.S. but would make the financial deficit worse. Our government spends and spends like there is no tomorrow. What does this mean for the future generations? They will end up paying for what we are getting now. This means our great grandchildren and great great grandchildren will be paying for the money the U.S. is spending now. Do we really need such a “change” now so our future generations will look back and question why we voted for a man who openly stated he would increase spending?

Obama plans to at least double the top dividends and capital-gains rate from the current 15% to as high as 28%. What Bush did with dividend and capital-gains tax cuts has helped increase federal revenue. Obama will make the U.S. take a giant step backwards. Is this what we really want for the country? Don’t we have enough economic problems right now? Social Security would also suffer under Obama’s plan. Do we want that to happen? I am seriously wondering what the U.S. would be getting into if Obama wins in November.
