STROKE OR HEART ATTACK?

September 8th, 2007 · 1 Comment · Health

While frightening, you need to know the warning signs of strokes and heart attacks. These are extremely important, so you may want to keep a list handy.

Stroke: You may have a sudden numbness or weakness in the face, arm or leg on one side of your body. Sudden confusion, trouble speaking or understanding someone may mean stroke. Suddenly not being able to see in one or both eyes, trouble walking, dizziness, loss of balance, or even a severe headache with no known cause may be signs.

Heart Attack: You may feel a discomfort in the center of your chest that last more than a few minutes or goes away and comes backs. This might feel like pressure, squeezing, fullness, or pain. You may feel pain in your arms, back, neck, jaw, or stomach. Shortness of breath or breaking out in a cold sweat with nausea or lightheadedness may be signs.

Most important: consult your doctor, call 911, get to a hospital. The first hour is critical. When in doubt, check it out is the best advice I can give you on this topic.
