Somer Thompson-another missing Florida girl

October 21st, 2009 · 3 Comments · My Opinion

I first heard about Somer being missing this morning. Authorities did not send out the Amber alert immediately, but waited, since this is Florida’s law. That must be changed! These alerts need to go as soon as possible, not 48 hours later.

Somer had been walking home with her twin brother Sam and big sister. She argued with another child in the group then ran ahead when her sister told her to stop arguing. That’s when she went missing. Authorities followed trash trucks from her home area to Georgia and found a child’s body in the dump. They are not releasing much except that an autopsy will be done on Thursday.

Our laws for child abductions must be better regulated. We cannot have this continue. It seems there are a lot of pedophiles in Florida. We need to protect our children better. We must insist on teaching them to be wary of strangers and to stay within a group if they are walking home from school.

There is also a missing 20 yr. old in Georgia. Morgan Harrington went missing after attending a concert with friends. She got separated and went out of the stadium, only to be refused entry. She called her friends to tell them she was outside. Her purse and cell phone were found in a parking lot within that area. Her parents have a reward out for her return.

Time to pray for the families and children, no matter their age. The perverts in our world continue to wreak havoc on families by grabbing children. We need this to stop very soon.

The body found in Georgia is Somer. Listening tonight to Jane Mitchell, I have said the same as she did. What can be done to these pedophiles? Keep them in jail. Never ever let them out. There are 161 registered sex offenders within 100 miles of Somer’s home. How many more are not registered? Go on Google and key in “missing children + your state”. I was shocked to see how many were missing from my state of Pennsylvania. Way too many. Some are runaways, but there are many who are not. It makes me sick to my stomach to hear of another child being abducted and murdered. We need to do something soon to stop this from happening. Any suggestions?

When considering someone who would kidnap a young girl (murdering or not) I believe it is proof that they are both a Sociopath & Predatory.
To me that then places them in the same category as a rouge animal to be dealt with in the same manner.
    Execution.
    No appeals.

Dear Anon, exactly! Lock them all up, throw away the key. Execution? If the law permits. I know some states won’t do it, but if there is no doubt at all of innocence, then by all means, do the execution. I am so upset by all these kidnappings and killings. “Suffer the little children unto me.” But they don’t have to die. My heart goes out the those left behind, parents, siblings, grandparents. It’s hard to deal with such a tragedy.
