Today the doctor prescribed a muscle relaxer. He thinks my lower back pain is stemming from strained muscles. When I came home Alex and I looked up the medication in question only to find the side effects are extremely alarming! Hallucinations, insomnia, the inability to concentrate, and more. In my job as customer service rep, there is no way I can tolerate taking such a medication. I need to be alert. This medication won’t allow me to do that. I am frightened of the unknown that would occur for me. I did call the local pharmacist who I know and trust. She told me most people benefit from the medication. Maybe I am being overly cautious, but I just don’t want to put something like that in my body and mess things up even more. The one line in the side effects list that really upset me was “may need to take less and less to wean yourself off the medication”. To me that means addiction. I don’t want to go that route. If any of my readers has ever taken a muscle relaxer I would like to know if there were any major side effects. Please let me know.
In the meantime I will go for an MRI to see if this doctor can find out what is wrong. The pain is tolerable to a point. I will live with it if necessary, but I would like to know just what is happening inside my body.

I decided to get the pain tablets anyway. They are at least allowing me to sleep better the past 2 nights. The only side effect I seem to be having is a slight tingling around my eyes and nose areas. That I can tolerate. There also seem to be some slight headaches that come and go. Again, I can tolerate that. My lower back pain, however, is still annoying.
