Today President Bush and several world leaders whose countries are also caught up in the bad economy are discussing what might be done to get the world out of the depression it’s in. President Bush invited 18 leaders to talk about open markets for free trade. Some progress is being made, but there is more to be done since some leaders have different ideas on how to get out of the crisis the world is in. This is the first in a series of summits.
And where is president elect Obama? He is not there. He could be there, sitting in the background, listening, absorbing details and making notes for the future summits of which he will be a part. It would be educational for him. Instead he has sent two representatives to sit at the summit and report back to him. What kind of message is Obama sending to the rest of the world? Is he disinterested in helping? Doesn’t he care at all? I feel he should have been there. No one would keep him out. To me it just doesn’t seem like he cares about the economy or he would have been there. This doesn’t make it look good for our future here in the United States. I am more worried now than I was a week ago after Obama was elected.
