Fall Yard cleanup

September 8th, 2008 · No Comments · General

Now is the time for cleaning up the garden and the yard. Also time to plant the bulbs you want to come up in the spring. Many places have these bulbs on sale now. Daffodil bulbs and others can be found in many colors now. Think ahead to spring and have the bulbs ready to come up and brighten the spring days. Clean the flower beds, cutting off the dead leaves. Anything that looks withered, dry or mushy should be removed. Add mulch to the flower beds now as it will help insulate, retain moisture, and prevent soil erosion. Prune trees and bushes in the fall when there’s less sap in the branches. Wiping a disinfectant on the blades of the pruning shears will keep the risk of spreading infection from one tree or bush to another.
