Eat Healthier and be more active

February 13th, 2008 · No Comments · Diabetes

Eating right with diabetes doesn’t necessarily mean going on a “diet”. You need to make healthy choices and eat similar amounts of food at regular times. You will have to slowly change your eating habits. Think about what you eat now and the food choices you were making. Now consider a few changes like adding an extra veggie each day, switching to fat free milk, or eating smaller portions of foods that are high in fat or carbs.

Add more activity to your daily routine. Walk more, clean more, ride a bike. Add at least an extra 30 minutes to your day. This will help you be able to control our blood lipids (fats) and your blood pressure.

1) Eat at the same time each day.

2) Eat similar amounts of carbs at each meal.

3) Eat more nonstarchy vegetables.

4) Eat less fat.

5) Become more active.
